Jakob Hein is a German psychiatrist, writer of fiction and spoken-word performer, born October 25, 1971 in Leipzig, GDR. Son of Christoph Hein. He lives in Berlin.

Jakob Hein earned his M.D. at the Charité and subsequently specialized in psychiatry. Today he runs a private practice in Berlin. His manifold publications, including his successful novel »Herr Jensen steigt aus« (2006; tr.:Jensen quits) and his vegetarianism satire »Wurst und Wahn« (2011; tr.: Sausage and insanity), have been translated into numerous languages. They are characterized by tracing the sometimes bizarre fissures of our everyday life.
